St. Augustine Tower
This church was desolated in 1835 after the Portuguese government of Goa began forcing out many religious orders in Goa under its new restrictive policies. The resultant neglect caused the fortification of the church to collapse in 1842. The structure collapsed soon after and by 1871, the bell was moved from the tower to Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church in Panjim, where it remains to date. The ruins were featured in the blockbuster thriller hit movie song “Gumnaam Hai Koi” from the 1965 and Singham to name a few besides daily television drama such as CID and many more.
- Bom Jesus Basilica
This exquisite church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the oldest churches of Goa. The body of the great saint Francis Xavier is laid here in a silver casket adorned with precious stones in a entombment at the this church. For the historical buffs, the Basilica of Bom Jesus also has an Art Gallery which showcases the works of Dom Martin, a renowned Goan painter of yesteryears. - Se Cathedral or Saint Catherine of Alexandria.
This by far one of the largest churches in India and is dedicated to Saint Catherine of Alexandria. The Se Cathedral has Corinthian panache interiors and exteriors further amalgamated with perfect Tuscan style architecture.
Mangueshi Temple
This beautifully complex, well-designed, and elegant structure has interesting seven-storied lamp tower or deepstambha, has been erected in the temple complex. A soothing and calm water body, which is said to be the oldest section of the temple soothes the senses and builds religious value.
Tirupati Balaji Temple
